Nordfjordeid, Norway -- Sept 2024

Nordfjordeid port became fjord cruising - September 17, 2024   We arrived and docked in Nordfjordeid. We had an awesome RIB (boat) tour booked to Geirangerfjord, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and supposed to be one of the prettiest fjords. The tour company sent a reminder email and also changed the time an hour later, so I emailed to confirm that it was later. No explanation at first and still did not say that they changed it, just that the new documentation showed 10am, instead of 9am on my printed tickets. We were most looking forward to this tour. However, it was not to be. The tour was 80% refundable if our ship did not get to port; they auto-refunded it. Though we paid in Norwegian Krone, and I feel like the exchange rate also became less favorable for us for the refund.  The Captain got us docked, and then with the harbor master determined it was too windy for us to stay docked. We had the submersible moorings like we experienced the previous day in Flam, an...

P&O Britannia Norwegian Fjords Embarkation - Sept 2024

Image
Embarkation day on Friday the 13th - September 13, 2024   More challenges in the morning. I could not get a reply from our Airbnb host on storing the luggage on Airbnb, text, or whatsapp, so we tried to drop our luggage off at the ship. Since our assigned embarkation time was not until 2:45pm, after rooms should be ready, we originally planned to just carry it on. I just printed and prepped the luggage tags just incase. Arriving at the port, there were not much going on. Others arrived, quick talk with them that they were going to ask, so I ease dropped on the response. No checked bag check-in until 11 am; it was 10:30 am then. I also learned that the number on our luggage tag is the correct luggage drop to use. Before leaving, we found ours. We headed back. Travis hated putting more miles on the luggage wheels, so I sat with them in a green space just outside the port while he walked the key back to the Airbnb. I then posted that we dropped the key when he returned. We had a snack...

First P&O UK Cruise - Prep - Sept 2024

Image
First spotting of P&O Britannia in Southampton on cruise day, September 13, 2024!  We picked P&O UK because they had a Norwegian Fjords cruise in September (there were more cruise line choices in the summer, but the flight prices were double), trying a UK cruise line sounded interesting, it is a budget cruise line with the daily service change included in the price, and the room came with kettle for Travis. The British were very lovely to cruise with. It was a challenge to book from the US though, being only bookable through vacationstogo.com. I used Emma Cruises's travel agent, who facilitated all the work with vacationstogo.com; the invoice came from vacationstogo.com.   Cruise Planned itinerary:  Before check-in, my.pocruises.com, we logged in with our booking number, and they had a spot for registration info. I got our passport info entered with no issue. However, it would not take, or keep, our phone numbers entered. I got both of ours in with no country...
