Interesting or amusing travel stories

I do not have too many stories to share, but starting a collection.  September 2015: We were walking Creek Street in Ketchikan, Alaska after completing an excursion. Outside of Creek Street on a road that looked like it went out of town and had a bridge. The driver of a car was pushed out of the car by the passenger, and the passenger continued to drive from the passenger seat, side swiping many parked cars on a bridge. The police were in hot pursuit. Hopefully, it did not take long since a police chase where the driver is not in the driver's seat seems like it should give the chaser an advantage! What the... April 2004: Two different German train station amusing stories.  The first was an overnight train from Munich to Berlin, which required we be at the train station late at night, with the train leaving about midnight. The station had little seating; I guess they did not want people loitering. First, there was a guy with a beer and a cigarette. He drank the beer, left about...

Greenland: Sea day and Nanortalik

Sea day and Greenland: July 17-18, 2023   Today was our first scheduled sea day to get to Greenland, so it was our Cruise Critic meet and greet! Our organizer had put together an icebreaker of a grid finding others who had done this or that on the list, which was fun. There was a quick intro of the officers. Then he had prizes of Viking cruise ducks and magnets with a game of guess the answer to the Viking or Norse jokes, awarding one prize per family. The chocolate chip are the best. Oh, yes, and coffee, juice, water, and sweet breads (not that kind; dessert breads -- I can't remember what they are normally called now). We did a group picture that was going to be posted to CC role call, but I don't see it there to share. We also met Steve and Linda who we were sharing a taxi to the airport after the...

Ísafjörður -- July 16, 2023   Isafjordur is also on a fjord and was a very early stop. We pre-booked Dynjandi Waterfall & the Westfjords tour from Wild Westfjords, now ArticEx. We were scheduled to arrive with a tender port at 7 am, and the tour published to start at7:30 am. Crazy! We got up super early and had O'Sheehan's breakfast. Then grabbed our pre-packed stuff and headed to the tender; with platinum, we can join the tender line without getting a ticket. We got on and off pretty quickly...maybe the first tender with the photographers on with us. I don't think we have ever scored the first tender before. Then to figure out which way to go; there was straight ahead and to the left. I finally decided on left, and they were there waiting for us. We picked our seats and settled in. When everyone was on board, our tour guide introduced herself. I don't remember her name...of course...but she had what sounded like a very interesting life.  Isafjordur is connected to ...
